Greetings Readers!
Welcome to Part V of our Perennial Habits course — exploring the art (and science) of change. Thus far, we’ve discussed: How to Change When Change is Hard (Part I), How to “Think” About Change (Part II), The Paradox of Small Changes (Part III), and Becoming Every Day (Part IV).
***Register here for our first meetup (Wednesday, Apr 26th, at 7:00 pm EST).
As a reminder, our 7-week Perennial Habits course consists of email meditations every Tuesday and Friday, along with live meetups over Zoom on Apr 26th, May 10th, and May 24th. As always, if you have any questions or concerns — feel free to email me or leave a comment!
What Do You Want Out of Life?
The first perennial habit I typically refer to as “discerning the way,” but I encourage you to call it whatever term makes sense to you. The idea connects with “motivation” in The Fogg Behavior Change Model we discussed in The Paradox of Small Changes. As well as stages two (contemplation) and three (preparation) on the stages of change model we explored in How to “Think” About Change.
Discerning the way is cultivating the habit of asking ourselves what we want out of life. It requires us to contemplate and create clarity around principles and values that truly matter to us.
