Becoming Who You Are

Paradoxically Speaking (S2, E1)
Masks Looking at a Tortoise by James Ensor (Public domain)

Greetings Readers!

Longtime subscribers might be aware of Paradoxically Speaking — a podcast with my good friend Brandon Tumblin. Brandon is the host of The Strong Stoic podcast and creator of

. Brandon and I decided to make season two of Paradoxically Speaking exclusively available for members of either of our newsletters. For anyone unfamiliar, our conversations (or, you might say, ramblings and ruminations) attempt to explore the complexities and nuances around living our highest good in the modern world.

Why Paradoxically Speaking?

Paradoxes exist nearly everywhere — even in the area of self-improvement. In the classic On Becoming a Person, psychologist Carl Rogers wrote, “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” When you encounter a paradox, remember that there is potential and opportunity within the tension. The nineteenth-century Danish physicist Niels Bohr put it this way, “The opposite of a correct statement is a false statement. But the opposite of a profound truth may well be another profound truth.”
