Greetings Friends,
Thank you for reading and listening this week! Below is a short contemplation from the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius, along with links to this week’s meditations. Until next week, be wise and be well!
📿 Don’t Waste Your Life
This week’s contemplation comes from the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius. In Book III, Marcus wrote to himself,
Don’t waste the rest of your time here worrying about other people—unless it affects the common good. It will keep you from doing anything useful. You’ll be too preoccupied with what so-and-so is doing, and why, and what they’re saying, and what they’re thinking, and what they’re up to, and all the other things that throw you off and keep you from focusing on your own mind. You need to avoid certain things in your train of thought: everything random, everything irrelevant. […]
The Stoics (and many others) considered our attention a critical resource. Marcus continued, “You need to get used to winnowing your thoughts, so that if someone says, “What are you thinking about?” you can respond at once….”
Contemplation Questions (Pick one or create your own!):
How do you avoid distractions in daily life?
What does it mean to use your time (and life) wisely?

I recently read
Emerson : Lessons From An American Stoic by Mark Matousek
It was so good that I read it a second time…I almost at the end however I am going to read it again — it is that good.
Emerson is a Giant along with Stephen Batchelor that I think you are about to do a deep dive on…(The Art Of Solitude) which made me decide to become a member because I love you guys and I am glad I have discovered you.
All the best,
Be Well,
