I read this book and when I reached the end I read it again. This book, this author and Emerson have changed me forever….i was already very ripe after doing a deep dive into The Stoics through Marcus Aurelius, Seneca and Epictetus plus Donald Robertson, Massimo Pigliucci, and Ryan Holliday as I sunk into despair after being hit by a car as a pedestrian back in 2017. I discovered The Stoics when I noticed this statement on the internet — “The Obstacle Is The Way, What Stands In The Way Becomes The Way”…
This led me on to embrace The Stoics that In turn led me to read Pierre Hadot — Philosophy As A Way Of Life, What Is Ancient Philosophy, and The Inner Citadel.
Life is itself a practice beginning with the art of caring that opens into the art of living by treating all our own experiences especially the adverse aspects as “Spiritual Exercises” teaching us to move towards “Ataraxia” (An Untroubled Mind) and “Eudaemonia”?(A Flourishing, Thriving life leading us into Awe and Wonder at being alive and curious towards living a life as a way of art.
